The West Jackson District won the coveted gold sneaker award in both miles and average miles in most recent Amazing Pace journey.
The Amazing Pace is the Mississippi Conference wellness program.
Pacers in the West Jackson District covered 13,989 miles during the “Katrina Journey,” which ran from Dec. 23 to March 17. In addition, West Jackson pacer’s averaged 229 miles each.
Second in total miles went to East Jackson with 10,978 miles followed by Tupelo at 10,162. The Starkville District was second in average with 202 miles per paces, with Hattiesburg third at 179.
Since The Amazing Pace was introduced at the 2007 Annual Conference, Mississippi Conference Pacers have walked around the world more than 26 times or 639,515 miles.
During the Katrina Journey, more than 42 percent of those registered with the program completed the 257 mile journey. The current Amazing Pace journey, “Stepping Out Mississippi” runs from March 17 to June 15.
