‘Wesley’ to pay visit to St. Matthew’s

4/1/2009

St. Matthew’s United Methodist Church in Madison will get a visit from John Wesley on April 15.

The church will host a presentation of The Man from Aldersgate with B.J. Johnston at 6 p.m. in Hart Hall.

Written by playwright Brad L. Smith, The Man from Aldersgate is a one-man play taken directly from the journals of John Wesley. Through the drama, Wesley and his ministry are brought to life. During the performance, Wesley shares how his transformation through faith in Jesus Christ sparked a revival that changed England and America.

Johnston, a student of Wesley for nearly 35 years, has a degree in music and dance from Stephens College and a master’s degree in theater education from Scarritt College. As a missionary for 15 years, he served as director for the College of the Arts at the University of the Nations. He moved to Jackson in January 2003. He has appeared in more than 50 theater productions and is performing The Man from Aldersgate across the country.

Admission to the show is free and open to the public. For information, contact the church office at 601-856-9581. To schedule The Man from Aldersgate for your church or event, call 601-951-1761 or visit www.kareproductions.com.
