SENATOBIA — The Rev. William Shelby Mainers, a retired pastor, 82, of Baxter died Sept. 9, 2008 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services were held Sept. at Baxter Chapel of Hooper Huddleston Horner Funeral Home. Graveside services and interment were held Sept. 12 at New Union Cemetery in Medon, Tenn. Baxter Chapel of Hooper Huddleston Horner Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

He was born April 30, 1926 in Henderson, Tenn., to the late Willie Evan and Vesta Haltom Mainers.

He pastored a number of churches in Tennessee and Mississippi in the Southern Baptist and Methodist faiths, serving as a minister for over 53 years. He was a former pastor of Coldwater United Methodist Church.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Carrie "Pat" Nell Granger Mainers on Oct. 11, 2007.

Survivors include: daughter Judy Carr of Baxter, Tenn.; sons James Mainers of Jackson, Tenn., and Trent Mainers of Shelbyville, Tenn.; and six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
