Marriage educators schedule training event at Jackson church

David and Claudia Arp, marriage educators, best-selling authors and founders of the 10 Great Dates program will lead a Mississippi training session for their program.

Sponsored by the Mississippi Healthy Marriage Initiative, the event is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. Jan. 13 at the Christian Life Center at First Baptist Church in Jackson. The training is designed to equip and empower faith-based and community leaders with an affordable and easy-to-implement program to help strengthen marriages and families in Mississippi.

During the training, the Arps will explain the research-based benefits of their program, give advertising and start-up tips and provide resources that will make using the program simple and easy.

10 Great Dates received the Smart Marriage Impact Award and was cited by Diane Sollee (founder of the Coalition for Marriage, Family and Couple Education) as one of the most effective and widely used marriage education programs. It has been successful in communities throughout the country. The program combines fun dates and marriage education skills, while giving couples time out to build their marriage and enrich their relationship.

The training session is free; however, advance registration is required. For more information or to sign up, visit or call 662-325-3080.

The Mississippi Healthy Marriage Initiative is a collaboration of community agencies, organizations, groups and individuals who recognize and support the rationale that healthy marriages have benefits for both adults and children.
