Ruth Koon Wilson, clergy spouse


JUMPERTOWN — Ruth Koon Wilson, 84, died Sept. 4, 2008, at Golden Circle Living Center in Ripley after a long illness.

Services were held Sept. 7 at McMillan Funeral Home in Booneville with the Rev. John Morris officiating. Burial was in the Jumpertown Cemetery.

Mrs. Wilson was the spouse of the Rev. John Thomas Wilson, a retired clergy member of the Mississippi Conference of the United Methodist Church. She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church. She was a retired seamstress and nurse's aide.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John Lawrence and Ivy Griskel Moore; her first husband and father of her son, Wilber Irvin Koon; sister, Mattie Earline Moore; brothers, Graden Curlee "Bilbo" Moore, Gettis Glenford Moore, John William Moore and Sanford Lawrence "Hoot" Moore.

Other survivors include son, Dean Koon of Tupelo; stepsons, David Wilson and Barry Wilson of Tupelo; sisters, Lee Summey of Orland Park, Ill., Jean Morris of Adamsville, Tenn., Edith Mackin of Burbank, Ill., Sue Hardy of Huntington Beach, Calif., and Nellie Demonbreun of Burbank, Ill.; brothers, David Moore of Senatobia and Larry Moore of Coldwater; three grandchildren, seven stepgrandchildren and nine stepgreat-grandchildren.
