• Aging and Ministry I the 21st Century — Sept. 6.This one day seminar focusing on senior adults will feature Dr. Richard Gentzler, director of Center on Aging and Older Adult Ministries for the General Board of Discipleship of the United Methodist Church will be held at St. Matthew’s UMC in Madison. Fireproof Your Marriage — Sept. 26. Offered in Tupelo and Jackson, there will be a special private screening of the new feature film, Fireproof. Produced by the same church that produced Facing the Giants, this film is designed to strengthen marriages. A supplemental guide to encourage discussion between couples will also be available for use following the movie. • World Communion Sunday — Oct. 5. Consider asking families to serve in the distribution of the sacraments, in the baking of the bread, or in the procession of flags from around the world.

First Sunday in Advent — Nov. 30. Consider ways that you might celebrate the gift of a new church year. Explore ways that you might journey in anticipation of the birth of the Christ Child. Encourage a Sunday school class to design an Advent calendar for use by all in your congregation.
