The Adult Choir of the Raymond United Methodist Church has been invited to sing at two historic English churches. On Dec. 26 the choir and friends will leave Mississippi to sing at Wesley Chapel in London and Canterbury Cathedral.
The Wesley Chapel is the birthplace of world Methodism, and Canterbury Cathedral is the “mother church” of English Christianity.
Besides seeing the homeland of Charles Dickens “dressed” for the holidays, the group will also visit Westminster Abbey, St. Paul’s Cathedral and the Tower of London. They will also have a day-tour to Stratford -upon -Avon and Warwick Castle. On other days they will visit Windsor, Cambridge and other historic sites. The choir will also have time off for personal sightseeing and shopping, as well as being at the fireworks celebration on New Year’s Eve in Trafalgar Square.
Choir Director Jim Bridges says the tour is open to others who either want to sing with the choir or just go with them. If interested, call the church office at 601-857-8051.
