Rev. Robert Lee Ellis Jr., retired pastor


NOXAPATER -- The Rev. Robert Lee Ellis Jr., 86, a retired clergy member of the Mississippi Conference of The United Methodist Church, died May 13, 2008, at Winston County Nursing Home in Louisville.

Services were held May 16 at Nowell Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Smith Whiteside and Danny Hancock officiating. Burial was at Noxapater Methodist Cemetery.

Rev. Ellis served the Methodist Church from 1964 to 1986. His appointments included charges at Chester, Winona, Hamilton Friendship and Macon Circuit. He was a member of Noxapater United Methodist Church. Rev. Ellis served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a prisoner of war.

Rev. Ellis was preceded in death by his wife Mary McCully Ellis, his parents Robert Lee Ellis Sr. and Inez Price Ellis and brother Bill Ellis.

Survivors include two nieces, three nephews and a sister-in-law.
