Women of all ages took part in a special United Methodist Women Mothers Day program held recently at Independence United Methodist Church.
Women from all denominations in Independence participated in a worship service which included special music by the Rev. Dayna Goff of Sardis and Davis Chapel UMCs, and communion served by the Rev. Clare Biedenharn, pastor of Independence and Hebron UMCs. Goff also took part in communion. A special offering was received for Mississippi Methodist Senior Services.
The liturgy honored and memorialized women of the world lead by the local unit president, Marcia Freeman. Special refreshments and fellowship followed the service in the fellowship hall, and each of the women were presented with a "happy bag" which included a devotional book created by UMW member Joyce Ferguson and included devotionals written by many of the UMW unit members, members of other area churches, conference staff members and Bishop Hope Morgan Ward. Cheryl Denley shared "Are You My Mother?".
