Russia Initiative event with Bishop Vaxby is April 15


In cooperation with the General Board of Global Ministries, Clinton First United Methodist Church will host Bishop Hans Vaxby for a regional Russia Initiative Mini Consultation on Tuesday, April 15.

This event will allow churches and individuals to hear first-hand how God is working through The United Methodist Church in Russia, Belarus, Ukraine and Moldova and how to participate in this ministry. The consultation will begin at noon with lunch and will conclude at 3. Cost is $5 per person for lunch.

Bishop Vaxby is the bishop of the Eurasia Area, the largest geographic episcopal area in The United Methodist Church. It covers 11 time zones and includes Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Moldova, Kazakhstan, Krygystan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan. The Eurasia Annual Conference was established in 1997, with expansion to four annual conferences in 2003 and a fifth annual conference in 2005.

Vaxby is a native of Sweden and previously served as bishop of the Nordic and Baltic regions.
