Zimbabwean bishop's oldest daughter dies of malaria

Marble Mugari, eldest daughter of Bishop Eben Nhiwatiwa of Zimbabwe, died Feb. 11 of malaria at Kotwa Hospital Mudzi.

Mrs. Mugari, 40, is survived by her husband Lazarus Mugari and two children, Mike Mugari, 11, and Pearce Mugari, 4. Burial was Feb. 13 at Mugari Village, Kaitano, Mudzi.

The Zimbabwe United Methodist leadership traveled from all over the episcopal area to stand with its bishop, including five district superintendents, the Harare and Mutare office staffs, several pastors, lay leaders and many more members of the church.

The Rev Givemore Chimbwanda gave a sermon to console the Nhiwatiwa and Mugari families. Testimonies given witnessed that Mrs. Mugari was a women of the people. Her friends and other relatives nicknamed her “Kamuchacha,” someone who is always in a jovial mood or a happy person.

Nhiwatiwa has visited the Mississippi Conference several times. Zimbabwe and Mississippi United Methodists are partners in the Chabadza Covenant.
