In the pages of the Bible, Jesus teaches frequently about money and resources, yet churches often struggle with how to talk about money issues.
Clergy and laity who want to help lead their churches in healthy and Biblical approaches to the use of money and finances can participate in the upcoming Stewardship Academy.
Sponsored by the Mississippi United Methodist Foundation, the academy will offer instruction and guidance in local church stewardship approaches and practices in three two-day events. The first session is March 28-29 at Crossgates UMC, Brandon. The deadline to register is Feb. 1.
Participants will receive a broad range of information, ideas, resources, and models of stewardship from two gifted, nationally recognized leaders, Rev. Dr. Wayne Barrett and Rev. Denny Buwalda. Assignments between sessions will help enhance and reinforce what is learned at the academy as it is applied to participants' current ministry setting.
The registration fee of $150 covers all three sessions.
