A strong line of storms on Thursday caused damage across Mississippi.
The Caledonia United Methodist Church and parsonage in the Starkville District sustained damage from an apparent tornado. Windows were blown out and the roofs were damaged. The parsonage is currently unlivable, but no injuries were reported at the church or parsonage. Rev. Ron McDougald is the pastor.
The community of Caledonia, north of Columbus, sustained heavy damage, as did Attala and Holmes counties, particularly the Goodman area.
Damage assessments are continuing across the damaged areas, according to Rev. C.J. Caufield, conference disaster response/UMCOR director.
"Better assessment will continue today, and we will have a report of needs," said Caufield on Friday morning. "Please continue to pray for those who are suffering in many ways as a result of this."
No food, water, or clothing is needed. Disaster response teams are asked to be on stand-by. Please check back later for more information.
