Program to aid hospital

More than two years of hard work and dedication paid off recently for one Memphis hospital with the implementation of several important components in an electronic medical record called One Chart.

The launch included critical care and medical-surgical documentation, surgery documentation and case tracking and the new medication reconciliation process.

In 2002, Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare began working with Cerner Corp. to use Cerner Millennium® to unify the hospital system’s various clinical systems, including patient access, patient management, patient billing, pharmacy, radiology, emergency services, operating room services, laboratory, scheduling and registration. Methodist North is serving as the pilot hospital, and all of Methodist’s hospitals are scheduled to be fully electronic in November 2008.

Computerized Physician Order Entry and Electronic Medication Administration are scheduled for implementation at Methodist North on  April 1. The Information Systems command center will continue to provide on-site technical support to associates and physicians as long as the on-site support is needed.
