A Stream Of Faith
By Charles E. Westbrook

“Later on God tested Abraham’s faith and obedience. ‘Abraham!’” God called. ‘Yes,’ he replied, ‘Here I am.’” — Genesis 22:1

We learned the story of Abraham and Isaac as children. God told Abraham to use Isaac as a sacrifice. God was testing Abraham, who always did what God told him. So, Abraham packed everything and set out on the long trip to the land of Moriah where God had told them to go.

The time came that Isaac was to be put on the fire as a sacrifice. Isaac was calm and waited to see what was going the happen. Abraham waited to see what would happen. Everything was ready. Suddenly the voice of God came over them, and God told Abraham not harm the child. Abraham untied Isaac and set him free. Suddenly, they saw a ram that was used as a sacrifice.

Abraham was about to sacrifice his son. This was to tell God that he would do anything for him. However, God stopped him, and Abraham set Isaac free.

They named the mountain “The Lord Will Provide.” The Lord knew that he was willing to sacrifice his own son.

What would you do to show you love and obey God? Would you be willing to sacrifice your own prize item? What is God asking of us? We need to offer our thanks to him and let him guide us and show us his great plans
for us.
