Advent is the season of expectation, a time for quiet preparation for the annual celebration of the coming of the Christ child into the world. However, for many people, the month of December is the busiest, most frantic, most stressful month of the year. Because of this busy-ness, the real meaning of Christmas is often forgotten. It is difficult to find time to be quiet and still, time to pray and reflect, time to consider priorities, time to remember what is important.
For over 100 years, Methodist Children’s Homes has played an important role in the lives of countless children in Mississippi. MCH relies on donations to keep it doors open. Conference apportionments account for less than 7 percent of its annual budget. Special offerings to MCH go above and beyond conference apportionments to provide financial support for MCH’s programs.
MCH has group homes in Clarksdale, Ellisville, Gulfport, Jackson and Natchez, as well a foster care program.
On Dec. 9, MCH will receive its special Advent offering. This is one of two conference approved special offerings for MCH. Contact Becky Mercier at MCH at 601-853-5000 ext. 6 to request a supply of offering envelopes.
