My strength, song come from the Lord

“The Lord is my strength and my song. He has become my victory.” — Exodus 15:2 NLT

The story of Samson and Delilah appears in the book of Judges.

Delilah was with Samson one day and she wanted to know where he got his strength. She asked him why he would not confide in her and tell her how he got so much strength. He then told her that it was his hair that gave him all the strength that he needed.

Samson had never told this to anyone. He also told her that if his hair were cut he would become very weak. One day while he was sleeping, Delilah cut Samson’s hair, and he was soon captured by the Philistines.

As Samson looked upon his hair for strength and protection, we can turn to the Lord for our strength. The Lord wants to watch over us and take care of us because we all are his children. We need to depend on the Lord in everything we do. The Lord will help us not to be captured by the evil doers that come our way each day. We read in Exodus that he would be our strength, song and finally he wants to be our victory. Our earthly items cannot save us, but the Lord can.

What are we depending on and where does our strength come from? Who gives you the strength you need to make it day by day? The Lord wants us to be totally dependent on him.

Are you going to depend on the world or let the Lord help?
