Indiana pastor to speak at Salem
Dr. Bill Coker of World Gospel Church in Terre Haute, Ind., will be the guest evangelist for the 181st annual Salem Camp Meeting.
The Rev. Mitch Osborne of Ridglea Heights Baptist Church in Moss Point will lead the music with Linda Pierce as pianist.
The camp meeting begins Oct. 8 and concludes with the evenings service on Oct. 14. The Salem campground is located one mile west of Mississippi 63 in north Jackson County.
Coker was born in New Orleans and graduated from the Tulane University. He attended Asbury Theological Seminary receiving degrees in 1963 and 1965. He received a doctorate from Hebrew Union College in 1973. Coker has served as pastor in the Louisiana, Mississippi, Kentucky and North Indiana conferences.
Coker has served as professor of Bible and Greek at Asbury College as well as vice president of various departments. Coker has served as adjunct professor and guest lecturer in Russia, Indonesia and Taiwan. Since 1989, he as served as the senior pastor of World Gospel Church.
Osborne served churches in Mississippi and Alabama as bi-vocational minister of music for approximately 10 years while working as a construction craftsman for Singing River Hospital System. In 2005, Osborne was called into full-time ministry, continuing to serve Ridglea Heights Baptist Church.
The daily services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m., 2:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. Coker will preach the morning and evening services. Area local pastors will preach the afternoon services. Special music by local singing groups will begin at 6:30 each evening.
