Bishop Lee among speakers at 175th Shiloh Camp Meeting

Retired Bishop Clay Lee and the Rev. Mike Pope of Tuscumbia, Ala., are the preachers for the 175th Camp Meeting at Shiloh United Methodist Church near Pelahatchie.

In addition, the Rev. Dr. Ron Smith, president of Wesley Biblical Seminary in Jackson, will speak at 3 p.m. Aug. 5, the concluding day of the event.

Four services a day are planned for the open-air tabernacle on the grounds of Shiloh UMC. Every day begins with a devotional at 9 a.m. followed by worship at 11 a.m., 3 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. The church, where the Rev. Sam Dodd is pastor, and camp ground are located at 2394 Shiloh Road.

Singing will be part of every service. Every service will feature solos, duets, quartets or choirs.

Special leaders will be working with children and youth. Since this is the 175th year, some “characters” from years long gone by are expected to stop by and share a little of the history of Shiloh’s Camp Meeting.
