“For we are God’s servants, working together.” – I Corinthians 3:9
A youth team with adult mentors will depart on May 27 for Zimbabwe to engage in listening, learning and chabadza – partnership in which workers in the field are joined by others with common purpose. I look forward to being a part of this grand mission experience.
The team totals 27 persons. We will travel to Harare, Victoria Falls, Mutare and Great Zimbabwe, enjoying the hospitality of the people of Zimbabwe and seeing the beauty of the landscape, animals and natural wonders of the country.
We will be engaged in chabadza in a particular way for several days – working with the United Methodist youth and adults to paint church facilities, in study and prayer and from which they will go forth in mission to others.
The team will return on June 7, just in time to share in the mission celebration at Annual Conference.
The local churches and districts have supported the youth members of the team with great generosity.
We have another opportunity to help by providing the children of Zimbabwe with over-the-counter medicines and medical supplies. Items needed include topical antiseptic, adhesive bandages, pain relievers such as children’s Tylenol, children’s aspirin or children’s Advil, etc. Bring these items to the conference office by May 24.
They go forth as a result of your vision and partnership. Thank you for your prayers as the mission adventure unfolds.
