QuinTango to perform at Millsaps College


The musical group proclaimed by the Washington Post as “one of Washington’s musical treasures” is coming to Millsaps College.

On March 29, the Millsaps College Arts and Lecture Series will host QuinTango.

QuinTango is the only tango music group to have ever given a command performance at the White House.

QuinTango has appeared at the Kennedy Center, U.S. Department of State, The Smithsonian and performed 60 concerts across the country last year in venues ranging from an elementary school in North Carolina to the 1,000-seat, 19th century Teatro Nacional in San Jose, Costa Rica.

QuinTango’s musicians include Joan Singer and Paula Akbar, violinists; Jorge Luis Espinoza, cello; Libby Blatt, bass, and Jeffery Watson, piano.

The event begins at 7:30 p.m. in the Ford Academic Complex Recital Hall at Millsaps. General admission is $10. Non-Millsaps students can take advantage of a $5 student rate. Group rates are also available by contacting Luran Buchanan at 601-974-1043.
