Teykl to lead prayer conference on coast

Dr. Terry Teykl will bring his Acts 29 Prayer Encounter Seminar to the east campus of Ocean Springs St. Paul United Methodist Church in March.

The event is scheduled for March 10.

An author of several books on prayers, Teykl has been a pastor for 27 years and writes and speaks from a practical viewpoint in helping churches build prayer ministries to pray for others and win the lost. “The early church didn’t have prayer meetings,” he said. “It was a prayer meeting.”

Joan Simpson, St. Paul UMC prayer minister, said the seminar is an opportunity to be taught by a man who has conducted hundreds of workshops and seminars on the subject throughout the United States. “He has published a corporate prayer plan entitled ‘Acts: 29’ and believes that the 28 chapters of Acts are merely blueprints for what God wants us to do in the church today,” she said.

The seminar is designed to provide pastors, staff, and lay workers with the information and tools necessary to help them develop and support a prayer ministry, or build upon an existing one in their local churches. Topics include: personal prayer, prayer evangelism, building/supporting a prayer ministry, praying for others and praying more effectively.

The seminar runs from 9 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. with a half-hour break for lunch. Nursery assistance will be provided. St. Paul UMC East Campus is located at the intersection of U.S. 90 East and Mississippi 57.

Anyone wishing to participate should register no later than March 2. Registration forms are available at St. Paul UMC, P. O. Box 909, Ocean Springs, MS 39566. A seminar fee of $30 (checks payable to St. Paul UMC and indicating “Prayer Seminar”) includes all materials and lunch. One-half continuing education unit will be awarded to participants who register and attend. For more information call the church office at 228-875-5701 or e-mail Simpson, prayer@stpaulos.org.
