Cumbest to sing at Poplar Head UMC event

Elizabeth Cumbest, whose recording All Things New — Songs of Hope after Hurricane Katrina was released last month, is scheduled to perform Feb. 16 at Poplar Head United Methodist Church.

The church is sponsoring an “Agape Love Benefit Concert/Fish Fry” to raise money for the Seashore Mission Church in Biloxi. The event is scheduled for 6 p.m. at the church located three miles east of Saucier on Mississippi 67.

Cumbest, 16, recorded the CD to raise funds for the Seashore Church which was destroyed in the hurricane. The church served a low-income area of Biloxi and also many homeless people.

Cost for the catfish dinners is $8 for adults and $5 for children under 12. The concert will begin at 7 p.m.
