Learn, sing, explore on Wesley heritage trip to England

Where better to celebrate the 300th birthday of Charles Wesley than England?

Reservations are now being accepted for a nine-day Wesley heritage trip this summer with Bishop Hope Morgan Ward and others from the Mississippi Conference.

"We continue to be formed, along with the worldwide family of Christians, by the hymns of Charles Wesley. You are invited to explore, to learn, to grow, and to sing with friends in the Mississippi Conference as we celebrate the 300th anniversary of the birth of Charles Wesley," said Bishop Ward.

The trip, arranged through Educational Opportunities (EO) Tours, departs July 16. Travelers may depart from Jackson, Memphis, or New Orleans. Cities on the tour include London, Bristol, Worcester, Gloucester, Birmingham, Coventry, Epworth, Stratford, and Oxford. The cost, including airfare, lodging, motorcoach transportation, entrance fees, most meals, taxes, and tips, per person is $2,768 based on double occupancy. Clergy who serve as first-time hosts are eligible for $400 scholarships, and spouses of host clergy qualify for $250 scholarships.

Registration deadline is May 16. A deposit of $250 is required at registration. To register, request a brochure from Donna White in the bishop's office, dwhite@mississippi-umc.org or 601.948.4561, or visit the EO Web site, www.eo.travelwithus.com.

"All along the way, we will sing 'the triumphs of God's grace,'" said Ward. "I hope you will be part of this spiritual adventure."
