JACKSON — Elton Dudley Taylor, 91, died Dec. 11, 2006, at Rankin Medical Center in Brandon. Services were Dec. 14 at Galloway Memorial United Methodist Church. Ott & Lee Funeral Home handled arrangements.


She was the mother of the Rev. Joy Carr, a clergy member of the Mississippi Conference of The United Methodist Church.


Mrs. Taylor was a native of Washington, N.C. and spent many years living in Ft. Pierce, Fla., the hometown of her late husband, Jack Archie Taylor, where she worked as a professional bookkeeper and was part owner of a catering business. She and her husband moved to Brandon in 1988 for their retirement, where she became an active member of Galloway UMC, especially in the church’s drama ministry designing and sewing costumes. She lived in Nashville for six years, before moving to Lake Junaluska, N.C. in 2000.


Other survivors include: sister, Alice Bellis of Burton, S.C.; and three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
