David Ronald Upshaw, retired


ANNISTON, Ala. — David Ronald Upshaw, 70, retired, died Nov. 1 at Northeast Alabama Regional Medical Center.


Services were held Nov. 4 at Anniston Memorial Funeral Home with the Rev. William P. (Buddy) Nelson and the Rev. Don Phillips officiating. Burial was in Four Mile Cemetery.


Pallbearers were Kenneth Barnwell, Stanley Barnwell, Kent Barnwell, Jeff Barnwell, Jeff Davis and Glenn Davis. Honorary pallbearers were Merita Bread retirees, Andy Bonds, Carl P. Bonds and J.D. Brown.


Mr. Upshaw was the father of the Rev. David Upshaw, associate pastor at Christ United Methodist Church in Jackson.


Mr. Upshaw was retired from Merita Bread after 30 years of service. He was an avid bass fisherman and was a familiar sight fishing rocks off Highway 77 in Ohatchee. He was a member of Anniston’s First Baptist Church at McClellan.

He was a former member of Wilmer Avenue Baptist Church and served as Sunday school teacher and choir director for 20 years.


Other survivors include: wife of 51 years, Louise B. Upshaw, of Anniston; and two grandsons.
