Robert Michael Langley, police officer


OXFORD — Robert Michael “Robbie” Langley, 30, died Oct. 23, 2006, at The Med in Memphis from injuries sustained in the line of duty.


Services were held Oct. 25 at the Gertrude C. Ford Center for the Performing Arts on the University of Mississippi campus, with the Revs. Kevin Crofford and Barry Male officiating. Burial was in Forrest Memorial Park Cemetery in Batesville. Wells Funeral Home of Batesville handled arrangements.


Mr. Langley was the foster son of the Rev. Eugene Van Every, a United Methodist pastor, and Paula Van Every of Brandon.


He was preceded in death by a brother, Rusty Langley.


Other survivors include: wife, Lisa Bryant Langley of Batesville; sons, Robert “Robbie” Michael Langley Jr. of Oxford and Cory Bridges Langley of Batesville; daughters, Maci Cheyenne Kirkland of Batesville and Anne Claire Bufkin of Oxford; father and step-mother, Larry and Sherry Donald Langley of Lena; mother and step-father, Debbie Hearn and Michael Lloyd of Covington, La.; sisters, Racheal Langley of Kosciusko and Renee Howell of Carthage; brothers, Chris Watkins of Pearl and Jonathan Van Every and Kelsay Van Every, both of Brandon; grandparents, Glenda Bridges Kuhn of Batesville, Cecil Langley, Jannie Foster Hearn of Covington, James T. Hearn of Hammond, La.; step-grandmother, Mary Langley of Vicksburg; foster grandmother, Virginia Tardy of Cleveland; and great-grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Rob Langley of Holly Bluff.
