Laity and clergy took part in a celebration of appointment for New Albany District Superintendent the Rev. Jerry Beam.
The service was held at Ripley First UMC.
Beam spoke on “Our Challenge for Ministry in the New Albany District.”
Gathering music was led by Buddy Grisham, while the Rev. Joe Stone of the district Committee on the Superintendency issue a welcome and statement of purpose. District Lay Leader Dalton Garner offered the opening prayer and children from the host church — Callie McBryde and Darby Patzius — read the scripture lesson.
Stone and Beam presented a covenant for ministry together.
New Albany District United Methodist Women President Carolyn Jackson gave the Prayer of Commitment. The service concluded with Holy Communion.
District Clergy Chair the Rev. Tom Potter of Ripley First UMC introduced pastors moving to the New Albany District. They included James Hall of Wheeler/Meadow Creek, Bruce Taylor of New Albany First UMC, Ricky Bishop of the Tishomingo Charge, Greg Forbes of Belmont UMC, Kerry Powell of Ingomar/Mt. Zion UMCs and Walter Down of Booneville Liberty UMC.
