Rev. Archie Leigh Meadows, retired pastor
MCCARLEY — Rev. Archie Leigh Meadows, 91, a retired United Methodist pastor, died at his home July 9, 2006.
Services were held July 10 at Lee Funeral Home Chapel in Winona with burial in Lumberton City Cemetery in Lumberton. The Rev. Vicki Landrum officiated, and the Rev. Allen Bailey assisted. Pallbearers were Dave Meadows, Sean Meadows, Michael Meadows, Skipper Grantham, Walter Billups, Mike Smith, and Ernest Sanders.
Rev. Meadows was born Sept. 24, 1914, in Crawford. Some of his most recent appointments prior to his retirement were Greenwood, Drew, Starkville and Oxford. Rev. Meadows retired more than 20 years ago, but continued his ministry through Sunday school classes at North Carrollton United Methodist Church and at hospitals in the area.
He was preceded in death by two sons, Dr. David L. Meadows Sr., and William Gregory Meadows.
Survivors include: wife of 66 years, Syble H. Meadows of McCarley; sister, Beth Brown of Winona; four grandchildren, and five great- grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be sent to the Greg Meadows Memorial Scholarship Fund at Millsaps College, 1701 N. State St. Jackson, MS 39210.
