Asbury establishes scholarship in honor of Cases

7/18/2006

The Martin and John Case Scholarship Fund has been established at Asbury Theological Seminary to provide support for students who are intending to become pastors in the Mississippi Conference.

These brothers have had a significant influence on United Methodism in Mississippi, and their years of ministry have inspired the establishment of the scholarship.

John Case lead each of the five churches where he served as senior pastor to “church of the year honors.” He pastored Christ United Methodist Church in Jackson for 18 years before retiring in 2001. During that time, the church gained 3,000 members.

Martin Case holds a bachelor-degree from Asbury. He served several appointments in the Mississippi Conference before retiring in 2000. He has written four books, most recently The Ten Commandments, They Still Work.
