Thank you!

“Chabadza can take place anywhere. There needs to be a place where people meet. As we meet, we encourage each other.” — Bishop Eben Nhiwatiwa

We give thanks for an annual conference, enriching, renewing, overflowing with chabadza.

The purpose of the annual conference is to strengthen the local church by providing a connection for ministry, all to the glory of God. May we live the connection well as you thrive in Christ’s ministry. As clergy are credentialed, commissioned, ordained and appointed, we give thanks. As laity go forth, loving and leading in local churches, we give thanks.

We live chabadza as we join hands with United Methodist friends in Zimbabwe. Thank you for the chabadza offering — $131,786! The communications center in Zimbabwe is fully funded, and we have a strong base from which to move toward a second Mississippi Conference scholarship at Africa University, response to the needs of those affected by the HIV-AIDS pandemic, feeding programs for orphaned children and other possibilities.

Bishop Tom Bickerton opened the parable of the 10 virgins for us. The headline is possible: God’s people share the oil!

Thanks be to God, who fills our lamps to overflowing.  May you rise and shine, day by day, in this new conference year.
