Bishop James Swanson, Sr. is pleased to announce the
Rev. Dr. Connie Shelton
appointment of Rev. Dr. Connie Shelton, Co-Senior pastor of Galloway Memorial United Methodist Church in Jackson to Director of Communications and Connection for the MS Annual Conference.  The move is bitter sweet for Shelton.

"The people of Galloway UMC have taught me a great deal. They embody risk-taking fearlessness to serve persons who are invisible to the world...The Mississippi Annual Conference is buoyed with passionate laity, visionary clergy, and congregations who love and serve well.  I am blessed to have this opportunity and ask for prayers in my new journey of service," said Shelton.

Effective July 2013, Shelton will replace Rev. Steve Casteel
Rev. Steve Casteel
who has served in the position for the last seven years. Casteel will continue to be the executive director of the United Methodist Hour as he transitions into his next appointment.

"With the addition of Communications to my responsibilities as director of connections, I have discovered that communication is the heart of the connection. As Bishop Swanson leads us into the next chapter of our life together as United Methodists, I know Connie Shelton will be just as effective as I have been. Connie brings a diverse set of gifts, experience, and strong leadership skills to this challenging opportunity. She will be assisted by the best staff in the world! I look forward to returning to a congregation and continuing to work with the United Methodist Hour. Please be in prayer for Connie as she assumes her new role and pray for me as I begin my next chapter. The connectional system is such a gift. It truly does work on the Power of WE. I can never thank everyone enough for the honor of being a part of the Annual Conference team," said Casteel.
