Becoming a Congregation for Children

Any faith community is invited to join the CFC network. The steps are designed to be open to all traditions, size of congregations and locations. It is our desire to have a significant number of churches in each legislative district connected through CFC.
Step 1: Express Interest
Contact Congregations for Children to find out more about becoming a member church. Start talking with friends at church to see who else shares your passion. Talk to your pastor about how to get the church involved.
Step 2: Get Educated
Attend or host a Children's Advocacy Workshop. These are being held in each district in the conference. Other agencies throughout the state offer workshops and seminars that will satisfy this requirement.
Step 3: Spread the Word
After you learn about the issues facing children today, you will be ready to educate your congregation about how to get involved.
Step 4: Celebrate
Plan a Children's Sabbath – a celebration of children in the life of the church. Resources for the Children's Sabbath are available from the Children's Defense Fund or the CFC office.
Step 5: Advocate
All that is left is to change the world… one phone call, one letter at a time. Contact legislators as needed – as often as you can.
